Teacher Training : "Working in Our Watershed: Career Pathways through Field-Based Education"
The Coastal Interpretive Center, Washington Department of Natural Resources, Twin Harbors Waterkeeper, and Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary are excited to welcome you to a hands-on field based exploration of career pathways and skills this June.
Participating teachers will join us for a 3-day workshop featuring presentations from experts in a variety of environmental career fields and field trips to sites in the Grays Harbor area showing the day-to-day work in these careers. Career pathways such as forestry, agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, and conservation are to be highlighted throughout this workshop (subject to change). In addition to gaining knowledge about local natural resource management, teachers will be introduced to curriculum to bring this learning back to their classrooms and schoolyards, including relevant activities from Project Learning Tree and materials produced by the DNR and NOAA.
This free training is an exciting opportunity for teachers to explore field sites while building knowledge, skills, and confidence to take students outside to learn about the issues that impact their community!
