Meet Our Staff

Becky has been working at CIC for two years now. Her role as Education Manager satisfies her love for both nature and knowledge. As a young girl she was fascinated by animals of all varieties and wanted to be a wildlife biologist. As she got older she found herself interested in the story of humans and pursued a degree in anthropology with a focus on archaeology and understanding how past humans interacted with the world. After several years in cultural resource management and museum studies she went back to school to study wildlife ecology and conservation for her graduate studies. Her joys in the world are animals, saunters in nature, reading, camping, and road tripping. She is currently enrolled in Wilderness Awareness School in Duvall, Washington to enhance and strengthen her naturalist skills.

Debbie LaFleiche went to Alaska to attend graduate school and then stayed for 25 years, working primarily as the CFO of a nonprofit. In 2017, she sold everything, bought an RV and hit the open road. She was a fulltime traveler for five years before landing in Ocean Shores in 2022 where se decided to, once again, plant roots.

2026 marked Tina’s 6 th season as a CIC docent. She loves watching the children come in and learn new things. She can almost see the moment something makes sense to them…. the expressions are priceless. It’s “why” she is a CIC docent. Tina is the Grammy to 8 grandbabies…. ages 8 to 24. They are also her “why” as she continues to work after her 2021 retirement. She has been married to her husband, Mike, for 37 years. They like to travel as well as spend time with family and friends who visit Ocean Shores.

Susan is a retired nurse who moved to Ocean Shores five years ago, returning to the coast after raising her family in Coos Bay, Oregon, and spending time in Idaho. The ocean has always been where she feels most grounded. She began volunteering at the Coastal Interpretive Center by helping inventory the collections. When a docent position became available, her familiarity with the Center made it a natural next step. She especially enjoys meeting the people who come through CIC's doors from all over the world. She likes hearing about where they’re from and sharing with them what makes our coastal area so unique. At home, she has three dogs who run the household and keep her happy. She enjoys walking on the beach, traveling to visit family and friends, and simply enjoying days doing whatever she pleases.
